It all started when Matt had the worst headache of his life. Then he became cross-eyed. After a trip to the eye doctor, Matt was sent to the emergency room where the doctor discovered an enormous brain tumor. Two days later, he was in surgery. But Matt's journey didn't end there, it was only beginning.

"Pilo" is inspired by the true story of how Matt Hales conquered a brain tumor, discovered obstacle course racing, and eventually competed in the Spartan Kids World Championship. This is a story of hope and faith, and how one family pulled together to overcome impossible odds.
